39dollarglasses.com Review – Best Value For Glasses Online?

Intro

Webiste: 39dollarglasses.com

In this article, I want to let you guys know about a new online contact lens retailer called 39dollarglasses.com. This site itself is not new, but they just recently started selling contact lenses. 39dollarglasses.com has been around for a long time offering glasses at very low prices.

39dollarglasses.com was founded on the idea that customers were overpaying for glasses when purchasing them from their eye doctor’s office, or other optical stores. The price of buying glasses in these physical stores must reflect the cost of the retail rent space, the employees, the advertising, etc. An online store like 39dollarglasses.com bypass all of these expenses, hence can offer to sell glasses at much lower prices.

Product Selection

There is no shortage of selection on this site. I just quickly ran through the different frame types and tabulate the totals. Here is what I found:

men’s plastic frames: 183
men’s metal frames: 173
men’s rimless frames: 36
men’s semi-rimless frames: 45
men’s bendable titanium frames: 6
boy’s kids frames: 55

women’s plastic frames: 231
women’s metal frames: 176
women’s rimless frames: 36
women’s semi-rimless frames: 49
women’s bendable titanium frames: 6
girls’s kids frames: 66

Some frames are unisex, so they appear in more than 1 category, but all in all they have well over 500 (close to 600) different frames to look at.

And if you’re looking to save on sunglasses, they have those too. Over 500 styles!

Quality of Products

Although $39 will get you a pretty standard pair of glasses, you do have the option of upgrading to higher quality lens materials and coatings. They offer basically every lens option you would find at your local optical or eye doctor’s office, including bifocals, progressives (no-line bifocals), polarized lenses, photochromatic lenses, etc.

Site Layout

One of the things I like best about this site is the design and the site layout. They have a large selection of frames, but their layout makes it so easy to navigate, that you never feel lost or overwhelmed. You easily narrow down your search by selecting the appropriate category for you, as shown in the screenshot below:

39dollarglasses.com Helpful Tools

One of the best features available on 39dollarglasses.com is the tool that allows you to preview any frame they sell on one of many different model faces, for both men and women. And if you can’t find a model that looks similar to you, you can upload a picture of yourself and see how the frames would look on you.

The other helpful tool that 39dollarglasses.com offers for every pair of frames they sell is the Snapshot Review. You can easily tell what the pros and cons are of every frame based on what previous buyers have thought of the product.

Negative and Positve

As you know, one of the main things I do at Contacts Advice is direct you to the website that sells contact lenses for the lowest price. When 39dollarglasses.com announced that they were selling contact lenses, I was excited to see if they would offer the lowest price on the internet for any of the brands they hold. Alas, every brand of contact lenses can be found at a lower price elsewhere on the internet, though I must say the prices at 39dollarglasses.com are still very competitive.

With that being said, if you take into account 39dollarglasses.com’s offer of a free pair of glasses valued at $39 for every year-supply of contact lenses you purchase, the value is incredible. You can get new pair of glasses every year along with your contact lenses, who wouldn’t want that?

Overall Impression

39dollarglasses.com is a really good choice of website to shop for glasses and contacts. This isn’t the place where you would shop to find all the top fashion brands, but if you’re someone who favors practicality over branding, you will love how much money you’ll save on this site.

As I have now moved on from the trades to working online my doctor tells me I may need contacts or glasses. I have bookmarked your site and intend to visit again after I find out exactly what it is I will have to get. Although I would prefer contact lenses, if I do need glasses I definitely don’t want to pay too much.

Hey Jason, actually, 39dollarglasses.com you could get both for the same price! At 39dollarglasses.com if you purchase a year supply of contact lenses, you receive a free pair of glasses valued at $39.

I like that they do this because it is not healthy for your eyes to be in contacts all the time. So if you get a free pair of glasses with your contact lenses, you are much less likely to over wear your contact lenses.

Wow, this is a unique website. I have been wearing glasses since I was 16, and I do keep usually looking for better deals out in the market. I have never come across an online store which sells glasses at such a low price. If I get my glasses from here, I won’t have to be so worried about breaking or losing my really expensive glasses.

Thanks a ton, would definitely try it.

Hi Asad, you’re so right, there’s nothing worse than spending $500+ on really nice glasses and forgetting them somewhere only to never see them again. I’ve experienced that, and it sucked :(

    This is an awesome post!

Being a very active and social person, I am always running around and doing different things. I tend to break my glasses at least a few times a year.

I don’t like using contacts because they irritate my eyes and glasses are more comfortable. I am glad now that I know I can buy some cheap glasses to replace my broken ones!

Hey Evan, I agree with you. When I use to wear glasses, I always kept a spare pair somewhere because I always misplace and lose things. I wish I had this site when I was younger, it would have saved me a lot of trouble, and not to mention at lot of money as well.

    Hi,
I am a guy who where glasses. I can’t do contact lenses as I have a phobia slotting things in my eyes. But anyway I am impressed with the tool that allows you to preview any frame with your face snapshot. Doing it at home at your own pace beats trying frames in optical outlets. The pressure of knowing you have to make a decision to please the sales personnel is not something I enjoy doing when choosing a frame.
Have you got any advice on how I can erase the fear of using contact lenses? I have always wanted to have blue eyes :)

Paying $39 for a pair of glasses sounds really great, since I’ve never paid less than $400. My only question, however, is getting the correct prescription to them. How would this be done? Do they offer a warranty based on how much better your vision is? The idea of getting good vision correction for this price is very inviting. Thanks for the review.

The prescription you would use to order glasses from this site (or any other site) is the most recent prescription your eye doctor gave you. You plug the numbers from your prescription directly into site and you will get the glasses made to your eye doctor’s specifications. For more information about what the numbers on your glasses prescription means, check out this article: How To Read Glasses Prescription

Wow! Great idea for a site. I wish I had known you when I had glasses. I got LASIK about 6 years ago. 39 bucks is pocket change compared to what I use to pay. What brands do they sell? I will be passing this info on to friends and family for sure. This site will help many people. Thank you.

Hi Billy! I had LASIK too! But unfortunately for me, I do still have a very small residual prescription. I’ve used this site to get a couple of glasses that I leave at work for when I need them, and another pair I leave at home for when I need them. They top have all the top fashion brands, but they have all the same styles (just without the name).

Hi, I want you to know I love your website! I am in optometry school myself, and I will graduate in 2017. You’ve done a great job with the content, and the pictures also are complementary. It’s great that you put your top choices right out there. I’m passionate about eye care, so I appreciate your effort in trying to help others satisfy their eye care needs. Keep up the good work!
