When I launched this site in 2015 I did not yet realize just how much people out there were struggling to convert their prescriptions for glasses into numbers they could use to order contact lenses online.
I happened to post an article on how to convert one’s prescription from glasses to contact lenses, and it started getting a lot of hits. Then I started getting e-mails from people who had read my article but still weren’t sure exactly to go about with their conversion. At first it was just a few, but then it became too many for me to respond to everyone in a timely manner. I decided to re-write the article in as much detail as possible, but it still didn’t seem to stop the influx of requests for help that I was getting.
I enjoy being able to help people, but engaging everyone in an e-mail conversation was no longer a feasible way to do so.
That’s when I decided to create Contacts Advice’s Conversion Prescription Charts.
There are literally hundreds of thousands of possible number combinations in a glasses prescription. But in order for everyone to have access to their contact lens prescription, I decided to create a series of charts which would include every prescription for glasses possible AND its corresponding contact lens prescription.
Currently, every prescription between sphere values 0.00 and -10.00 and cylinder values 0.00 to -3.50 are available on Contacts Advice.
